Leadership Lake County
Leadership Lake County is a private educational non-profit (501c3), established in 1986. It provides highly interactive leadership development programs in community-based settings. Participants range from established professionals to front line employees and early career professionals to high school and middle school students. Leadership Lake County’s goal is to develop and engage existing and future leaders in pursuit of civic and economic excellence in Lake County and its surrounding communities.
JobsOhio is a private, nonprofit corporation designed to lead Ohio’s job-creation efforts by focusing on attracting and retaining jobs, with a focus on strategic economic sectors that are part of the state's existing economic strength. Using a private-sector approach, JobsOhio can maintain business confidentiality while working efficiently to provide clients with all the information and support they need to choose a location in Ohio.
The Ohio Development Services Agency focuses on supporting the businesses, individuals, and communities in Ohio. It is tasked with supporting and overseeing the efforts of JobsOhio. The Agency offers programs that help Ohio's most vulnerable citizens and to support community development activities.
Team NEO is a nonprofit business attraction and growth organization that markets Northeast Ohio to the world, attracts new businesses and helps those that are here grow. They are the Northeast Ohio regional partner for JobsOhio, a private, nonprofit corporation that drives economic development and job creation for the state.
The Greater Cleveland Partnership is a membership association of Northeast Ohio companies and organizations and one of the largest metropolitan chambers of commerce in the nation. Comprised of over 14,000 members, GCP focuses on economic and business development, physical and infrastructure development, minority business development, and advocacy. GCP also include the Council of Smaller Enterprises, a small business resource that provides cost-effective group- purchasing programs, advocacy, and resources focused on helping companies grow.
The Lake County Development Council works to enhance the quality of life in Lake County across diverse sectors. The Council provides a forum for the interchange of ideas on county issues to develop long- and short-term solutions to issues facing the county. The Council keeps the community apprised of these issues, and brings together the appropriate people and organizations to address them.
The Small Business Development Center Program provides management assistance services to existing and start-up businesses. This is mainly accomplished through counseling sessions provided at no cost to the client. The SBDC enhances economic development by providing small businesses with management assistance. Among its many services SBDC helps with are obtaining licenses and permits, evaluating forms of ownership, developing business plans and financial projections, marketing, and securing various financing sources.
The Manufacturing Extension Partnership offers specialized assistance and high- end business consulting to manufacturers, product and technology-based companies, like research and development or testing firms, as well as individual inventors. The focus areas of the program are continuous improvement and modernization of processes, helping product developers successfully follow a path leading to commercialization, and finally supporting commercialization of new products.
The Procurement Technical Assistance Center is part of a statewide network of counseling offices offering FREE help to small and mid-size businesses interested in selling their products and services to federal, state, and local government agencies.
Lake1Stop is Lake County's employment connection. It provides services such as job search assistance, resume development, and computer skills training.
The Alliance for Working Together was started to address issues, challenges and best practices related to the manufacturing industry in Lake County. Recognizing the development of a skilled workforce as one of the most important issues, AWT decided to work to develop a degree program that would meet the needs of the manufacturers and partnered with Lakeland Community College to develop an Associate of Applied Science degree in Manufacturing. Students not only learn the skills necessary to succeed in a manufacturing career, but they also have the opportunity to build relationships with AWT member companies to apply their knowledge in a practical setting.
JumpStart works with high-potential, technology-based startups to help them develop their products and move them into the market. Companies are paired with successful entrepreneurs who help them get access to resource and adopt procedures that will make it possible for them to be successful. JumpStart uses its resources to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem of Northeast Ohio.
The Manufacturing Advocacy & Growth Network (MAGNET) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping manufacturers compete in the market and grow. MAGNET's own leadership is made up of directors representing the diversity of the region's manufacturing base. MAGNET provides consulting services to help companies become more efficient and identify new product development and growth strategies.
BioEnterprise is a business formation, recruitment, and acceleration initiative designed to grow healthcare companies and commercialize bioscience technologies. Companies include emerging medical device, biotechnology, and healthcare services firms. The resources and networks of the BioEnterprise partners are directed to help those companies achieve greater levels of business success.
WIRE-Net is a non-profit economic development organization dedicated to improving the community through nurturing manufacturing and the jobs and prosperity that come with it. It provides expertise that is responsive to manufacturing related businesses and their employees.
The Innovation Fund is a regional fund focused on supporting technology- based entrepreneurial endeavors and emerging technology-based businesses. The Innovation Fund fulfills its mission of promoting education and economic development by providing modest awards (up to $100,000) to promising technology-based start-ups located or willing to locate within the 21 counties of Northeast Ohio.
YBI helps accelerate emerging businesses by providing an array of invaluable services. YBI assists with commercialization process, provides counseling on marketing strategies, helps to identify funding resources, facilitates networking opportunities, provides access to physical infrastructure, and works to seek out collaborative opportunities.
