Willoughby Hills was incorporated as a village in 1954 and grew to city status by 1970. As of the 2010 census, its population was 9,485. The city prides itself on its balance between urban and rural borders. Willoughby Hills encompasses nearly eleven square miles, including part of the scenic Chagrin River Valley. The beauty of the city's setting makes it host to three separate parkland agencies, as well as its own municipal parks.
